What is the travel time between San Francisco and Mono Lake?

I am planning a weekend trip. One option is to bypass Yosemite altogether. Another is to travel through Yosemite and Tioga Pass, which is more scenic and appears more direct. Does anyone know the comparative length and duration of each route? Which would you recommend?

    Travel duration to go around yosemite is incredible and that is worth seeing.
